All SumYou Features in Detail
From automatic website monitoring to AI summaries in 5 languages — here is how SumYou works.
Monitor any URL — no RSS required
SumYou watches any public website. Unlike RSS readers like Feedly, single-page apps, e-commerce pages and government portals work too. Paste a URL, pick an interval, done.
AI summaries with GPT-4o-mini
Instead of reading raw diffs for minutes, you get 2-3 sentences that explain the gist of the change. Powered by GPT-4o-mini with Claude as a fallback.
Change detection via content hash
SumYou detects any meaningful change — even without an RSS feed. Cookie banners, ad blocks and navigation are filtered out so you only see real updates.
Summaries in 5 languages
German, English, French, Spanish, Italian. Monitor an English source and still read the summary in your native language.
Email alerts for important updates
Pro and Pro+ users can opt in to email alerts when high-importance changes are detected. Choose instant, daily or weekly delivery.
Categories & tags
Group sources by topic — News, Tech, Business, Sports. Filter your update feed by category, region or importance.
Geo filtering for DACH
Choose national, international or regional news (e.g. Bavaria, NRW). Useful for local journalists and PR teams.
Progressive Web App
Install SumYou as an app on Android and iOS. Push notifications are coming; for now alerts are delivered by email.
Public widget API
Embed SumYou news on your own website. The public /api/widget/ endpoint returns AI summaries filtered by source or category.

Frequently asked questions
Which AI models does SumYou use for summaries?
OpenAI GPT-4o-mini is used by default. If OpenAI fails or a source is better understood by Claude, Anthropic Claude is used as an automatic fallback. Both produce summaries in your target language.
How often are websites checked?
Every 24 hours on Free, every hour on Pro, every 15 minutes on Pro+. You can set a custom interval per source.
Does SumYou handle JavaScript-rendered pages?
Yes. SumYou uses BeautifulSoup by default. For single-page apps or JavaScript-heavy sites, it switches to Playwright automatically to read the fully rendered page.
Are robots.txt and rate limits respected?
Yes. SumYou respects robots.txt and throttles to at most one request per 10 seconds per domain. We behave like a normal browser without overloading servers.
Can I try SumYou without signing up?
Yes. The demo page shows real updates without an account. Sources you add as a guest are stored in your browser via session ID and can be linked to your account later.
